Cookie Policy

How the Glenarinoriaquiel website uses cookies and similar browser storage, with a privacy-first approach and no advertising tracking.

1. Summary

This website is intentionally lightweight and does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels or behavioural profiling scripts. The public pages are designed to work without third-party front-end services. This policy explains what browser-side storage may be used now and how we will handle any future change.

2. What cookies and similar storage are

A cookie is a small text value that a website can ask a browser to store and return on later requests. Similar technologies include local browser storage, session storage and security tokens. These tools can be useful for essential functions, remembering user choices or measuring service reliability, but they can also be used for tracking. We distinguish these purposes rather than treating all browser storage as the same.

3. Current use on this website

The current Glenarinoriaquiel front end does not set optional analytics, advertising or personalisation cookies. The navigation menu and enquiry form interaction run locally in the browser and do not require a tracking cookie. The contact form provides an on-page acknowledgement and does not use a third-party marketing script.

The web host or network infrastructure may still process standard request information or use strictly necessary technical mechanisms to deliver and protect the service. Such infrastructure-level processing is limited to what is required for operation, security and reliability.

4. Strictly necessary technologies

If strictly necessary storage is introduced, it may be used for purposes such as security, session integrity, load balancing, abuse prevention or preserving an explicit user choice. Where a technology is necessary for a service the visitor has requested, consent may not be required under applicable law, but we will still describe the purpose as clearly as practicable.

5. Optional technologies and consent

If we later add non-essential analytics, personalisation or similar browser storage, we will assess whether consent is required before activation. Where consent is required, optional technologies will not be activated until the visitor makes an affirmative choice. Refusing optional storage will not block access to ordinary public chess club information.

Consent, where used, will be specific enough to identify the relevant purpose and will be capable of withdrawal. We will not present refusal controls in a deliberately obstructive way.

6. Third-party services

The current front end does not load third-party font, script, image or stylesheet dependencies. If a future feature requires an external service that places or reads browser identifiers, this policy will be updated and the service will be assessed before deployment.

7. Browser controls

Most browsers allow users to inspect, block or delete cookies and site storage. Blocking all browser storage can sometimes affect features on websites that rely on sessions or saved preferences. Because Glenarinoriaquiel currently avoids optional tracking storage, ordinary browsing of this site should not depend on accepting advertising or analytics cookies.

8. GDPR and related requirements

Where GDPR or similar consent rules apply, non-essential tracking technologies will be treated as separate from technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a requested service. Any personal information associated with browser identifiers will also be handled under the Privacy Policy, including applicable rights of access, correction, deletion, objection or withdrawal of consent where those rights apply.

9. Policy updates

This policy will be revised if the site begins using new categories of browser storage or third-party services. The update date at the top of the page should be checked when you want to know the current position.
